| Are there any maximum use restrictions? | What kind of lease is required? | How many photographers are part of the monthly program? | What is the difference between the studios (and will there be more studios)? | |||
| Nope, but the calendar system will not let any one photographer book more than 24 hours or 6 upcoming shoots at any one time. Once a shoot has passed, the calendar restrictions will be gone. This basically keeps the calendar fair and free for all photographers, and makes sure no one monopolizes the studios. That being said, my goal is to keep the studios booked as much as possible in the most fair manner. Last-minute shoots when the studios are open are always allowed, and the calendar restrictions can be lifted from time to time if you contact me. In a nutshell, as long as other photographers aren't complaining, I'm fine with almost anything. | There is currently a 4 month minimum required. Studio rates for the monthly pre-paid use program are extremely low - $20/hour or less than $10/hour - while day rates for the studios are less than most other studios in the Bay Area. In order to provide such a steep discount, a certain level of reliability is required. To be a part of the program, a certain commitment level is required, to avoid photographers joining for a single month simply to use the studio as much as possible with no intention of continuing on. | There are only 16 photographers allowed at any one time. Once there are 16 photographers in the monthly program, I will not accept any new photographers. Sorry! | Each studio is very unique. The Fremont studio is very good for commercial shoots. Studio B in San Jose is a very large, open space studio featuring some amazing urban/industrial looks. We've had a 3rd studio three separate times - once in San Jose, then in San Francisco, and most recently in Oakland. Changing economic patterns as well as a host of other issues, have forced us to scale back from time to time. If things get more rosy in the future, I would love to have 10 studios throughout the entire bay area. Since our studios are all equipped with lighting, you won't have to bring anything between the studios that isn't your own. | |||
